This Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) autonomous mobile robot (called "Scotty"), has been built by COLETEK for teleoperation and autonomous mobile robotics research and development (devkit), for proof of concept purposes.
Scotty comes from humble beginnings - work started in 2006 on a casual basis and completed in 2011.
Scotty has travelled to 4 states of Australia, done many kilometers, demoed a wide range of UGV applications, and hired for a number of events. We have so much unpublished work and videos - we look forward to finding time one day to compile and post.
Scotty was first hired along with our automated quad bike by Freelance Robotics in 2011! It's since been hired by other firms for prototyping such as Mining3 and APAA. It has also be hired for a number of events such as the CONNECT Expo at the Melbourne Convention Centre, and "Build a self driving car in 72 hours?" organised by "The Robotics Club" run by Silicon Valley stars Ben Sand (YC) and Ken Macken (Techstars) and supported by the famous roboticst Prof. Peter Corke, Youtuber Hacksmith, Telstra and Blackbird Ventures to name a few).
Scotty is available for hourly hire (minimum 1 day) for our clients to use. We can provide R&D services to fit any custom equipment you may need to test your concept (aka Scotty Robot Plugin). We also use Scotty for internal R&D use. Scotty fits the bill for rapid prototyping any ground based teleoperation, semi-autonomous or fully autonomous mobile robot solutions one may need. Once the proof of concept is completed, one can redesign a new robot based on lessons learned, to optimize its physical size, power consumption and cost; while ensuring it meets the objectives for its target environment (e.g. underground or an unearthly surfaces).
This R&D can then be applied to many applications such as: military, home land security, space exploration, earthworks trucks, agriculture, mining, traffic control, road construction, waste management, transport, and gardening.
ROS, OpenCV, CUDA capable, but have done the autonomous mobile navigation in many ways, even before ROS, OpenCV, and CUDA was an option.
Delivered excellence on time, great work and great team, thanks!
COLETEK have been absolutely fantastic in their support and manufacture of various components for us. Our designs are always bespoke, intricate and low volume and it’s great to have an Australian company like COLETEK as a trusted and quality manufacturer for our spacecraft mechanical components and assemblies – which have been flight proven through successful mission operations. Keep up the great work!
I highly recommend to anyone with a need for data recovery to contact COLETEK - they are impressive from start to finish. I was impressed with the turnaround of each stage of the job, as well as with the cost to complete it. These guys are excellent to deal with, great communicators and clearly know their stuff... and, as I understand, HDD data recovery is only one component of the work that COLETEK does. Well done guys, keep up the great work!
Skykraft is a Canberra based company designing and developing spacecraft for the delivery of global space-based services. Luke and the team have been very responsive with quotes and delivery of machined parts for our company. Looking forward to working with COLETEK on our space programmes.
We had the opportunity to work with Coletek on the re-work of some complex SMD PCB assemblies during 2019. The work was carried out to a very high standard and we were extremely pleased with the outcome. We would not hesitate to recommend COLETEK for any type of complex technology work requiring high accuracy and professionalism.
We've worked with Luke and the team on and off for the past two years. We've found them very accessible and extremely thorough in their dealings. Their documentation is second to none and we’d have no hesitation recommending them on this basis alone.
